Admission

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

To take admission in our college, students should directly visit the college website only, (www.shreeagrasaincollege.net) for online application and follow further proceedings as stated therein for final admission.
Admission in the college is subject to the rules and regulations prescribed by the University of Calcutta and by the management of the college.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Students are admitted as per the guidelines of the Calcutta University. The college follows Calcutta University norms regarding system of examination.

The college conducts tutorials and internal assessment test etc. to assess the progress of the learning of the students and their eligibility to sit for the final university examinations. Academic and personal counselling to the students are provided by the teachers in various aspects, viz, choice of subjects, scheme of examinations, improving reading skills, cultural activities, sports and games, personality development, opportunity for higher studies and employment.

Academic calendar for the session is provided to the student at the beginning of each session. Students are advised to see the college Notice Board regularly regarding various important information, like matters pertaining to university Registration, University and college Examinations etc.

Admission in the college is subject to the rules and regulations prescribed by the University of Calcutta and by the management of the college.

ADMISSION REGULATIONS

  • The admission procedure in the respective subjects will be followed the latest regulation declared by the University of Calcutta.
  • A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent Examination is eligible to seek admission to the 1st year of the 3 year (six semesters) B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (Honours / General) Course of Studies provided he/she has also passed in English having full marks not less than 100.
  • Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Vocational examination conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education and Training will be eligible to seek admission to the B.A. (General) 1st year Course of Studies taking the subjects under Humanities Department only.
  • Students who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination or its equivalent from the All India Boards/Councils (i.e. CBSE, ISC and National Institute of Open Schooling) need not require to submit Migration Certificate for getting Registration under this University.
  • For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (Honours/Major/General) Courses, aggregate marks will be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. Marks in Compulsory Environmental Education/Studies will not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. However, if the subject “Environmental Science” is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, it may be taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.
  • However, no candidate will be allowed for admission after a lapse of more than 5 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.
  • Admission process will normally commence after publication of results of S.C., C. B. S.E.(10+2) and Higher Secondary Examination of W. B. Council of Higher Secondary Education and will continue till the vacancies are filled up or the last date fixed by University of Calcutta, whichever is earlier.
  • For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the Honours Courses, aggregate marks will be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in compulsory Environmental Studies/Education will not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. The subject “Environmental Science” studied as an elective subject of 100 marks may be taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.
  • Receipt of admission forms (duly filled in) by the college office does not guarantee admission.
  • Online Submission of admission forms does not guarantee admission. All admissions are provisional. Any admission done (inadvertently) contrary to the Rules and Regulations laid down in the prospectus and/or University of Calcutta will be treated as cancelled.
  • Admission to the college and permission to take up particular combination of subjects are subject to the rules and regulations prescribed by the University of Calcutta and at the discretion of the college authority.

 

Documents necessary at the time of final admission:

  • Mark sheet of the last qualifying examination.
  • Admit Card and Mark Sheet of Madhyamik Pariksha and H.S. Examination or equivalent (for proof of age).
  • Two Stamp size colour photographs.
  • Students who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination or its equivalent from the All India Boards / Councils (i.e. C.B.S.E, I.S.C. and National Institute of Open Schooling) need not require to submit the Migration Certificate for getting Registration under Calcutta University.
  • Students coming from other University/ Board must submit the Migration as well as Pass certificates in original for getting registration under Calcutta University.
