Shree Agrasain College

Shree Agrasain College is not just the arena of education to achieve certificates of degree, but a platform to explore the aptitude and proficiency of those, who are in the transition from teens to youth, in all spheres of their life as well as in our society. They enter to achieve the degree of graduation from the University of Calcutta and leave the college after successfully completing their Bachelor level education with a big lesson of humanity, morality and optimism.

This year the college has completed 15 years of journey. This is the 1st self-financed college in the history of Calcutta University being established and run by Shri Radhe Krishna Charitable Trust. The way was not so smooth when it was affiliated to the University of Calcutta in the year 2004 with only one subject (Computer Science (Honours)) having the strength of students in single digit. Now it is running successfully with all the branches of study, i.e. Science, Arts and Commerce. We thank Calcutta University and well-wishers’ guidance and support given by them while the college was struggling hard for survival. We are also proving the Honours in B.B.A. which is the threshold to build a prosperous career in Management. From the year 2014, the college has been running in two shifts, Morning Shift for only Girls’ and Day shift is coeducational. In the Morning Shift, B.Com (Honours) and B.A. (Honours) in various subjects of Arts and Humanities like English, History is offered for girls’ students. In Day Shift B.Com (Honours and General), B.Sc. (Honours) in different subjects in science like Computer Science, Mathematics, B.B.A. (Honours) is running successfully. Another job oriented application based subject B.Sc. (Major) in Computer Application is also provided for early job seekers. To support the zeal of education of our students, we offer Smt. Bimala Shroff scholarship to meritorious and needy students.

Apart from the classroom teaching, teachers are regularly involving the students in the modern tools of education like seminar presentation, quiz contest, debating, educational film projection etc. For any type of assistance within or outside the classroom, teachers are always welcoming the students to resolve their all difficulties.

College has been maintaining a well-furnished Library with a broad spectrum of text and reference books related to the course offered by us. Students can borrow at most five books (three for home & two for reading room) in every issue, which assists the student in maximum level especially at the time of examinations.

College has also been providing a series of delicious as well as healthy foods and beverages for the students and staff from a prolonged period through the Canteen. The Canteen is being upgraded continuously with new items on the basis of students’ feedback.

During the journey of progress, college has been made fully air-conditioned in the last year to provide an even more comfortable environment for our students.

In this year, college has introduced Smart Class Rooms to offer the new technological support in our education methodology.

We believe that the education system is incomplete if it does not include various types of extra-curricular activities parallelly. We have our playground in the campus, where the students relax and refresh themselves by participating in various types of games. Every year our cricket team takes part in inter college Cricket tournament organized by Calcutta University. They actively participate in various types of events like Badminton, Table Tennis, kick Boxing etc. They also happily enjoy the Sports Day, Foundation Day at college. The annual fest of this college AGROTSAV is fully arranged and organized by the students. This is the platform for the students to explore their cultural talent. From this year we have also started the “PLANTATION: Green India” programme to spread the environmental awareness among the students.

As a whole, Shree Agrasain College is a big family of students, guardians, teaching and non-teaching staff, where the respect and friendship are being assimilated every moment to strengthen this bond, which is leading us to a glorious future.
